Intel’s 18-core Haswell-EX CPUs with 165W TDP coming by Q2 this year
Intel is reportedly readying its Haswell-EX based third generation Xeon E7 CPUs for release by the next quarter. The top of the range Haswell EX CPU will include 18 processing cores and 36 threads and come with a TDP of 165W. New details on the upcoming processors was revealed in a new report published by CPU-World recently.
The top of the line chip is expected to be the Xeon E7-8890 v3 with 18 processing cores clocked at 2.5GHz. This chip will also come with 45MB of L3 cache, like most of the other chips that are expected to debut soon. The Xeon E7-8867 v3 will also be a 165W TDP chip but include 16 cores clocked at 2.5GHz. Other chips that are part of the Haswell-EX family will include 14, 12, 10, 8 or 4 processing cores. TDP rating of the upcoming chips ranges from 115W to 165W for the Xeon E7-8890 v3 and the Xeon E7-8867 v3. Similarly, clock speeds range from 1.9GHz on the 10-core Xeon E7-4820 v3 to 3.2GHz on the 4-core Xeon E7-8893 v3 chip.
- According to CPU-World, the third generation Xeon E7 processors will include a number improvements such as new AVX and TSX instructions and added support for DDR4 memory.Source : Cpu world
